Ritual of Rest #13 - Letting Go
The holidays are so beautiful, and often, also a season of high intensity and many feelings. Wherever you find yourself today, I hope this post will feel like a kind invitation to release your grip a bit on whatever you’re holding onto for dear life that’s taking more than it’s giving.
Ritual of Rest #13
Consider: What’s something you need to let go of that feels like more of a curse than a blessing in life right now?
Your answer could go absolutely any direction and could be something entirely practical or deeply rooted, or it could be something you need to say no to, or maybe it’s a grudge you’ve been wrestling with, or a fear that ironically makes you feel safe—clearly, it’s very personal.
The point isn’t to resolve however you answer the question. It’s simply to name it. Sometimes I believe the notion of surrender can help with this: to be honest about and accept whatever it is you notice surfacing.
It’s a step toward releasing a bit of control. It’s the courage of being just as you are. It’s the letting go (if even only for a moment)—and sometimes it’s in that release of our tight grip—or our honest reckoning—that we find a new way opened.
An Advent Meditation for the Week…
“He comes to make his blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.”
