I am a 40 year old wife, mom, writer, small business owner among many other things. For much of my life I’ve felt bound by my fears and the hard things that come along with living. But I’ve ascertained in recent days that sometimes you “just have to do it scared.” And so I am launching this Newsletter a good bit scared but convinced in every way its the right next step. It’s a deeply personal Newsletter—but that’s how I like it—going deep and being real. And I hope you’ll come just as you are too.

In my story over the last 10+ years, I’ve lived through a few “desperately tired” seasons that pushed me so close to the edge of breaking that all I could do was come to a screeching halt. These were full stops—each that forced me to squarely face my real, desperate, screaming need for rest.

When I acknowledged this need—when I explored it beyond just getting a good night of sleep (though that’s important)—a whole new way of life opened up. And now there’s an eagerness inside of me for the goodness of rest that I can’t escape (nor do I want to).

And that’s ultimately why I’m launching this newsletter: To tell of the goodness of rest in all of its many dimensions. And to invite you into its kind keeping—the type that lends to deep soul rest.

What to Expect in this Newsletter:

Never miss an update—every new post is sent directly to your email inbox—so it’s easy to follow along. Get the Substack app for even more fun features.

  • In this Newsletter, through stories, conversations and everyday rituals, I will explore with you how to make rest a more natural part of our busy lives.

  • Every Sunday I will offer a “Ritual of Rest” post. This will include a practice of sorts to explore new access points to rest that may resonate with you (these are not a one size fits all—so truly a discovery process—and some are as simple as cozy ideas to make your house smell warm and inviting).

  • Bi-weekly on Thursdays, I will send an article—usually containing a story or experience of the hard and good things of life—that have helped me make sense of why rest matters—and why I think it matters for you too.

  • Along the way, I will also offer access to guides, Q&A, and community-based conversations.

  • This newsletter is not meant to be another “to-do” item or something to make you feel guilty about what you’re not doing. Rather, in its simplest form, it’s truly and invitation to “let go”—to take a breath, a beat, a pause within the beauty and wonder of all that rest has to offer.

I hope you’ll join us!

Have you ever done a trust fall?

This is kind of what this feels like for me. It’s scary at first to let go and be vulnerable, but through experience I’ve come to believe that returning to rest over and over in all its vulnerability is like falling into an embrace of new freedom and kindness and, dare I say at times, deep soul rest.

My aim is that in this space we can inspire each other to make those trust falls, by sharing our experiences and inviting others in on the goodness we discover.

But mostly, I hope it can be a refuge of sorts—a space to truly let go, to know you’re not alone and a space where you feel the weight lifting off your shoulders, if only for a few moments.
